What is this UGC stuff anyway?
So, this UGC, or “user-generated content” as them smarty pants call it, is just stuff people make. Like, if you take a picture of your cat doin’ somethin’ silly and put it online, that’s UGC. Or if you make a video talkin’ about how much you like a certain kinda soup, that’s UGC too. It’s all about regular folks sharin’ their thoughts and experiences, not them big companies tryin’ to sell you somethin’. Though, I reckon they use it to sell stuff too, sneaky buggers.
How to get started with UGC, even if you don’t know nothin’.
Now, if you wanna be one of these UGC folks, makin’ this content and puttin’ it out there, it ain’t rocket science. First thing you gotta do is figure out what you’re good at, or what you like talkin’ about. You good at cookin’? Make some videos showin’ folks how to make your famous apple pie. You like talkin’ about tractors? Make a video talkin’ about tractors! It’s all about findin’ your thing, ya know?
- Find Your Thing: What do you like? What are you good at? Figure it out and stick to it. Don’t be tryin’ to be somethin’ you ain’t.
- Make Stuff Regularly: Can’t just make one video and expect to be famous. Gotta keep makin’ stuff, keep puttin’ it out there. Like plantin’ a garden, gotta water it every day if you want it to grow.
- Talk to Folks: When people comment on your stuff, talk back to ’em! Be friendly, be yourself. Don’t be all high and mighty, nobody likes that.
- Learn from Your Mistakes: You ain’t gonna be perfect right away. You’ll make mistakes, everyone does. Just learn from ’em and keep goin’. Like that time I tried to make bread and it came out like a brick…won’t do that again.

Now, about makin’ them videos. Don’t need fancy equipment, your phone is probably good enough. Just make sure folks can hear ya and see ya good. And don’t be nervous! Just pretend you’re talkin’ to a friend. Talk natural, like you always do. Don’t be puttin’ on no airs. And if you mess up, just start over. Ain’t no shame in that.
Growin’ Your Following.
Alright, so you’re makin’ your videos, puttin’ ’em out there… now what? Well, you gotta get folks to watch ’em! That means tellin’ your friends, tellin’ your family, tellin’ everyone you know. And you gotta be patient. It takes time to build a followin’. Ain’t gonna happen overnight. Just keep at it, keep makin’ good stuff, and folks will find ya. And remember, be yourself. That’s the most important thing.
Learn the Ropes.
There’s all sorts of guides and stuff out there too, if you wanna get really serious about it. They can teach you about settin’ up your profiles and how to make stuff that folks wanna watch. And they can help you understand them computer thingamajigs, the algorithms they call ’em, that decide who sees your stuff. But even if you don’t read them fancy guides, just remember to be yourself and make stuff you’re proud of. That’s the real secret, I reckon.
So, that’s the gist of it. UGC ain’t some big scary thing. It’s just regular folks sharin’ their stuff.
