Okay, so the other day I was watching golf, and it got me thinking – how much do these caddies actually make? Especially Tiger Woods’ caddie, you know? That guy’s gotta be raking it in, right? So, I did what any curious person would do – I started digging!
My Little Research Adventure
First, I just did a simple search. Nothing fancy, just typed in “Tiger Woods caddie salary.” I figured there’d be tons of articles, and I was right.
It turns out, it’s not as straightforward as a fixed salary. It’s more like a base pay plus a percentage of the winnings. So, the better Tiger does, the better the caddie does. Makes sense, I guess.
I scrolled through a bunch of articles, and they all seemed to say roughly the same thing. The percentages were pretty consistent across the board.
- For a regular tournament win, the caddie usually gets about 10% of the winnings.
- For a major championship, like the Masters, it can go up.
- If Tiger doesn’t win, the caddie still gets a smaller percentage, maybe 5-7%, just for making the cut.
Then I try to find out who is the current caddie, I found out that Tiger Woods’ current caddie is Rob * confirmed from multiple results.
I tried to figure out how much Tiger has earned in total, and then do the math, but that got a little complicated. There were SO many tournaments, different purses, and all that. Plus, I don’t have a list of all the specific wins and cuts!
So, I changed my search a bit. I looked for estimates of what his caddies have made over the years. And wow, those numbers were pretty impressive.
The Big Picture
It seems that caddying for Tiger, especially during his peak, was seriously lucrative. Even now, with fewer wins, it’s still a pretty sweet gig, I’m sure.
So, while I couldn’t pinpoint an exact “salary” for Rob McNamara, I got a pretty good sense of how the whole caddie payment system works. And let me tell you, those guys are doing alright!
